REFUGEE NIGHT: The first big celebrity event to aid victims of the crisis in the former Yugoslavia takes place Monday in Manhattan, primarily to create awareness of the Red Cross number 800-HELP-NOW.

Stars in all fields will gather at the Kit Kat Klub to do everything from perform to serve up meals. Jason Raize, star of Broadway's The Lion King, conceived the event, and is aided by Bobby Zarem, public relations guru.

Zarem explains that the event will benefit victims on all sides of the conflict. Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia and Sen. Robert Torricelli will speak that night. The Duchess of York saw Raize after his show and promised to get involved, saying she hopes to start a camp for children outside Kosovo. Mike Wallace and wife Mary will attend, and Art Buchwald, like several others, will arrive after Monday's Lincoln Center Film Society tribute to Mike Nichols.
